On Thurs. March 5, 2015, CAIR and the Newseum will co-host a town hall meeting on free speech at the Newseum’s Knight Conference Center in Washington, D.C.

The event, “Free Speech and Free Press: Laws, Limits and Liberty,” will feature a panel of experts representing a spectrum of views and organizations to discuss how societies and lawmakers around the world are struggling over where — and if — to draw the line on free speech and free press protection.

Other issues to be discussed will include:

• What are the differing factors that come into play in this important 21st century discussion, from core values and blasphemy laws to the new impact of the Web and social media?

• Why did many news outlets in the United States not publish, post or broadcast the controversial Prophet Muhammad cartoons or the cover of the “memorial” Charlie Hebdo issue?
