Candlelight Vigil to mourn the Loss of the Young Victims of Chapel Hill
CALIFORNIA
Palestine Freedom Project and our friends at Peace Fresno invite all to participate in a candlelight vigil to mourn and honor the victims of the recent Chapel Hill murders.
The event shall take place on Friday, February 20th at 5:00 pm at the River Park Shopping Center, on the corner of Blackstone and Nees Avenues in Fresno, CA.
Deah Barakat, 23, and his newlywed wife Yusor Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister Razan Abu-Salha, 19, of Raleigh, NC, were shot and killed in their home in Chapel Hill, the home of the University of North Carolina (UNC).
Barakat was a doctoral student in UNC’s School of Dentistry. The sisters were students attending North Carolina State University in nearby Raleigh. Mohammed Barakat and
Yusor Abu-Salha were married several weeks ago.
As organizers of the Palestine Freedom Project and Peace Fresno, we urge religious tolerance and acceptance of cultural diversity. Anti-Arab and/or anti-Muslim bigotry is unacceptable in any civilized society.
We must unite together to put an end to all racially-, culturally-, and religiously-motivated hate crimes.
Please join us and spread the word.
