Candlelit Vigil for Victims of Chapel Hill Shooting
OHIO
Please join us for a moment of solidarity to pay our respects to the innocent victims of the Chapel Hill attack- Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha, and Razan Abu-Salha. Let us show our university what TRUE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION really look like:
Atheists, Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and more; to show the university that we can come together as a student body when tragedy strikes and criticize how our society and media conducts itself.
Participating groups include:
–American Interfaith League
–KSU Muslim Students Association
–Hillel at Kent State University
–United Christian Ministries at Kent State University
–Islamic Medical Association of Neomed
–Humanist Society of Kent State University
–JMC Student Voice Team
Invite friends, family, students, faculty, staff.
We will meet on the K in Risman Plaza, open the space, then proceed in a silent walk to front campus.
Once at front campus, we will collectively paint the rock, have a moment of silence and then have various student leaders speak on the forms of prejudice on our own campus, media accountability on and off campus, and how to enact religious tolerance in a post 9/11 cultural landscape.
It is our hope that this can be a continued conversation moving forward.
Please share this event on your pages and through any and all means of social media.
