Anatomy of Rhythm: Middle Eastern Drumming

Join Brian and explore the structure and style of Middle Eastern Drumming! This workshop will include instruction on drumming techniques both for beginners and more advanced students as well as basic and more advanced music terminology and Middle Eastern rhythm notations. Basic and more complex variations of several Middle Eastern rhythms will be taught, and suggested practice drills will also be included for all levels of students.
Brian has over 10 years of experience playing and teaching Middle Eastern instruments both regionally and at such events as the Pennsic Wars and Darabukistani Days. He is a founding member of both the Lost Nomads and Blue Moon Dance Company, and is an integral member of World In Motion Dance, Movement & Music Center. His instruments include doumbek, djembe, frame drum, saz, cumbus, oud and bass guitar.

We have a limited number of loaner drums available on a first- come basis; reservations for a drum must be made in advance by emailing worldinmotiondance@gmail.c
A minimum of 4 preregistered students is required in order to run this workshop. Maximum enrollment is 12 participants.
