Feds, Arab American Group Back Qatar Trade Trip
The U.S. Commerce Department and the American Arab Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a mission to Qatar (KAH’-tar) this fall to encourage trade links with the Persian Gulf nation.
The Dearborn-based chamber says the trade mission set for Oct. 21-23 will be held in the capital city of Doha. The group says participants will attend a business conference and trade show and have “one-on-one business matchmaking opportunities.”
Qatar is rich in gas and oil, and its 2004 census reported a population of 744,000.
The American Arab Chamber of Commerce says Qatar is planning $120 billion in energy and industrial investments and $60 billion in roads, housing and other infrastructure.
