New Community Outreach Web Page from DHS’ Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL) announces their new Community Outreach Web Page. Since its inception, CRCL has worked to help DHS establish and cement positive relationships with the public. Much of their focus is on communities that are particularly affected by DHS activities and the organizations that represent them. One of CRCL’s primary goals is to assist the Department to develop policies and procedures that are mindful of civil rights and civil liberties; this is best accomplished when we listen to the reactions and concerns of the American people.
The new web page is a good resource for information on CRCL’s many outreach efforts. However the new page offers much, much more. Community Resource materials such as How to file a Civil Rights Complaint, information on the Federal laws that prohibit discrimination and many online training resources. Of particular interest to your publication may be the Outreach Communication Materials. These include information from the American Muslim community on terminology to define terrorists, how to go through the process of filing a comment about a travel experience and resources for new immigrants, including welcome guides in 13 languages. These materials may be downloaded for display and distribution.
