Gaza Oxford Brookes University Scholarship

The scholarship covers full fees, accommodation and most living expenses for the academic year. Applicants should fulfil the following criteria:

  • Wish to study for a one year full-time master’s degree at Oxford Brookes University
  • Have a good undergraduate degree (equivalent to a 1st/2:1)
  • Be under 35 years of age
  • Have an IELTS score of 6.5 or above
  • Have relevant work experience
  • Undertake to return to Gaza after completing their studies

The Hope Fund

  • Legal resident of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, or Gaza Strip. Or a registered Palestinian refugee outside the Palestinian territories.
  • Come from a socio economically disadvantaged background.
  • Currently in the 11 or 12th grade and have grade average of 90% or better.
  • Show fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Must not be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.

Arab American and Chaldean Council (ACC) Scholarship

Lebanese American Heritage Club (LAHC) Scholarship

  • Amount: $1000
  • Given to deserving and underprivileged students who possess the skills and desire to seek higher education; including high school graduates, college undergraduates and graduate students
  • Open to all students that are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and reside in the state of Michigan
  • All must have at least a 3.5 GPA
  • Applications accepted in January  of each year

Said Foundation Scholarship 

Applicants must complete the online application form by the deadline of 12 December 2014. A link to the application form and guidance notes can be found on the Said Foundation website.

  •  Applications are restricted to candidates who are Syrian, Lebanese, Jordanian or Palestinian (including Palestinians inside Israel);
  • Applications for study at universities outside the United Kingdom cannot be considered;
  • Applications from candidates who will be thirty five years old or more at the beginning of the 2015/16 academic year cannot be considered;
  • Evidence that the applicant meets his/her proposed university’s English language conditions is required by the Foundation;
  • Only candidates with the equivalent of a UK 2.1 degree or higher will be eligible;
  • Applicants must give details of the courses for which they have applied in the UK;
  • Candidates are not required to have work experience but priority will be given to those who have some work experience and who can demonstrate that their studies will benefit their field of work on return to the Middle East. If the applicant lacks work experience the Foundation can consider experience gained from voluntary or community activities or participation in activities whilst at university;
  • Applicants are required to demonstrate that they have the   potential to be leaders in their field.

Durham Palestine Educational Trust

Durham Palestine Educational Trust will offer two or three scholarships for a one-year taught Master’s Degree at Durham University, UK.

YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR A 2015 MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP IF YOU:

  • have completed, before July 2014, a degree at a university in the West Bank or Gaza
  • have achieved a cumulative average grading (GPA) of at least 80% (or 3.0 or B) in your first degree
  • possess a certificate of English Language proficiency acceptable to the course you wish to study at Durham University. see webpage
  • have been active in student or community life
  • live in the West Bank or Gaza and belong to a family that is normally resident in the West Bank or Gaza
  • are unable to study abroad through the finances of your immediate family
  • are able to live in the UK for 12 months as a single person.

YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY IF YOU:

  • have already taken a Master’s degree course, or
  • have studied, except for short courses, at a university outside of the West Bank or Gaza.

CONDITIONS OF HOLDING THE SCHOLARSHIP:

  • You will return to the West Bank or Gaza at the end of your course.
  • You will be an active ambassador for Palestinians during your stay in Durham.
  • You will enrol on the free In-sessional English Language course beginning in October.
  • You give permission for the Trust to contact your Director of Studies at the end of each Term to ask for a report on your academic progress.
  • When we offer you a scholarship, you tell us about any issues that could prevent you from taking up the scholarship on the criteria and conditions outlined above.

VALUE

The scholarship comes in two parts:

  1. Durham University will award you a tuition fee scholarship.
  2. This Trust (which is a charity, independent of the University) will provide a maintenance scholarship for your accommodation, living expenses, travel to the UK and other necessary expenses, such as a UK visa.

Internships

National Council on U.S. Arab Relations Summer Internship Program

  • Offers undergraduate and graduate students a ten-week professional, academic, and career opportunity in the Nation’s Capitol
  • Interns placed in one of the over a dozen Middle East and Arab related organizations in Washington D.C. and expected to work 35-40 hours per week
  • Interns take part in twice weekly seminar providing knowledge with greater depth of the Arab world
  • Interns are offered site visits at many of the central institutions of federal government, national security, policymaking, international diplomacy, and international business
  • Unpaid internship. Upon successful fulfillment of the program’s academic and internship requirements, receive $1,000 fellowship stipend

Arab America Research and Community Outreach Internship

  • Posting content to website and keeping site and social media sites up to date
  • Research and writing on news affecting Arab Americans, Arab American events around the country, and Arab culture
  • Assist in planning events through contacting vendors, developing budgets, and managing logistics

  • Offers hands on experience with programs that include research and information, event management, community outreach, and media relations

Fellowships

Joseph J Malone Fellowship in Arab and Islamic Studies

  • Provides educational experience that included introductions to host-country government officials, businessmen, academics, and scholars.
  • Opportunity to discuss Arab world issues and Arab-US relations with American and Arab scholards, policymakers, and other specialists

  • A leadership development training program developed through the National Network for Arab American Communities
  • Work 16 hours a week in an Arab American serving organization

  • Must be identified as an Arab-American
  • Must be residing or attending college in a host organizations location
  • Must be current undergraduate or graduate student or recent college graduate
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
