Korea, Oman to Hold Joint Fashion Show
An unlikely collaboration between two countries will offer a new set of lens into the traditional fashion of a place we may not be so familiar with.
H.E. Mohamed Alharthy, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman (known simply as Oman) has joined hands with Jung Jae-min, the President of the Korean Culture Association, for an Omani-Korean Traditional Clothing Fashion Show in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Oman, an Arab country in the Middle East, still exercises absolute monarchy and has a deep attachment to Islamism. Omanis manifest their rich cultural and political history through traditional clothing. Women wear colorful dresses decorated with jewels while men are dressed in white.
The show will take place Nov. 9 in KINTEX, located in the Gyeonggi Province. Omani designer Noora Karim Al Balushi and Korean designer Park Hyo-hui will showcase their works.
