Building Islam in Detroit Exhibit Opens on August 29th
The Muslim Center of Detroit welcomes the Ministry of Imam Warith Deen Mohammed for the annual Islamic Convention and cordially invites you to the opening of the the Building Islam in Detroit exhibition.
Building Islam in Detroit is a research project that documents the growth of mosques and Muslim communities in greater Detroit over the last century.
We hope this exhibit will help you appreciate the historical richness, diversity, and influence of Islam in Detroit. Shaped by experiences of discrimination and opportunity, struggle and accomplishment, the building projects on display here are the groundwork of a Muslim American future.
EXHIBIT DATES: AUGUST 29 – SEPTEMBER 13, 2008
Exhibit open after the Convention at Islamic Prayer times and by appointment.
Groups are encouraged to call ahead for reservations.
