Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture Presents Iranian Singer/Songwriter/Setar Master Mohsen Namjoo in Concert with Al-Bustan Takht Ensemble
The non-profit organization dedicated to presenting and teaching Arab culture through arts and language, Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, proudly presents Mohsen Namjoo in concert with the Al-Bustan Tahkt Ensemble. Namjoo and the Ensemble will present “Classical and Contemporary Persian Music” for those in attendance.
Mohsen Namjoo is an Iranian artist, songwriter, singer, music scholar and setar (traditional Persian lute) player based in California. Dubbed the Bob Dylan of Iran by the New York Times, Namjoo is a visionary artist who speaks for and touches the souls of today’s youth. Seamlessly blending the Classical with the Modern, the ancient with the current, Mohsen Namjoo is a true musical maverick.
Al-Bustan Takht Ensemble is a resident ensemble made up of virtuoso musicians trained in Classical Arab Music. All renowned musicians in their own right, three of the core members are recipients of the prestigious Pew Fellowship for the Arts. The Ensemble: Music Director Hanna Khoury (violin), Hafez Kotain (percussion), Kinan Abou-Afach (cello/composer), Hicham Chami (qanun), and Kinan Idnawi (oud).
The concert will take place on October 18th, 2014 at 8:00 PM at the Trinity Center for Urban Life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
